Celine was in a good mood. Which happened rarely these days, as the Prom-Night-Deadline was drawing near and many things just won't go as they were supposed to be. But right now, all that didn't matter. She was with her best friends and that's all she will think about for the next few hours or so. They were sunbathing on some rocks after all. Plus it was still early.

"Ah...", she let out a deep sigh of contendedness. "The morning sun is the best."

Hai Dong, who was curled up to her right side, raised his head and gave her a groggy grin. Then he went back to catnapping. He was not quite what you would call a morning-person. Which was funny and really ironic, considering the fact that he was the one who suggested they get up early to watch the sun rise and take a sunbath right after. Celine suspected that he had some ulterior motives for all this, but she couldn't figure out what it was, yet. But she will, sooner or later. For now though, she will let it be and enjoy the addictive taste of freedom.

On the other side of her sat Clover with her arms around her knees and her head resting on top of them. She asked : "Isn't he just the cutest thing ever?"

Celine didn't turn around, but nodded in agreement. "Especially when he's all sleepy and cuddly in the morning..." She added with a soft smile.

"My, my, Blacky, if I didn't know better, I'd say you were cheating on me!", said Papaver, who lay next to Hai Dong on the other side. Now he was propped on his ellbows and flashed her a cocky smile.

She arched her right eyebrow and snorted in a bored and dismissive way. "Who? Me? Sushi? Clover?"

He made a show of pointing at the three of them and replied in all seriousness : "All of you of course!"

"Of course..." Belladonna mumbled next to him, eyes still closed. Then she yawned. "Because - of course - everyone is property of the great 'n mighty Papaver...blah-blah..." She didn't need to look, to know how this will end and who will win : no one, because it will most likely be a draw.

"Yes, damn straight sister!" Papaver confirmed, ignoriong the sarcasm dripping off of his twins words, and pointed at her this time. Not that she could see it. And not that she cared.

Celine resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Clover chuckled. This seemed to boost Papavers ego, because he now turned back to them with an even worse version of his former smile. This one was awfully close to his infamous "supreme-playboy-deluxe-smile". The one they all got to know him with and the one that almost ruined Celines first impression of him.
Back then, she was still new at the academy and the only person close to her was Hai Dong.

*FLASHBACK*

It's only been a few weeks since she officially enrolled in Long-Quy-Academy, but she was almost sure that it was the right decision to leave Phung-Lan-Academy. Not that this was any better the other, except it was. In so many ways.

The surroundings for a start. Phung-Lan-Academy was high up in the sky. The 13th heavenly level. Sure you had a nice view and all, but it was so far away from the earth. Everytime she looked down, she would feel homesick, which is ridiculous really, since she grew up in heaven most of her young life.

The few times she was down there she could count on one hand :
First was when she was born, of course(or rather when her mother lay her egg and both her parents tended to it until she hatched) she was raised by her father then for about 3 years and then her mother came and simply took her with her to heaven. She remembered vaguely that she cried a lot and asked for her father a very long time befor she simply 'forgot'. Now that she thought about it, she suspected that there might have been a memory-blocking-spell in usage. She would definitely ask her mother about that later this evening.
The second time was when she was ten and decided that she was good enough with magic that she could change herself into a bird and fly down to visit her father, whom she hadn't seen ever since her mother brought her up there. It didn't go very well, she almost died in the process because she couldn't keep up her bird-form long enough to make it safely to the ground. She would've definitely died if she lost it only a few metres sooner.
The third and last time was earlier this year, when the end of school year was only a few weeks away, when IT happened, the final straw, after THAT she simply couldn't take it any longer and just fled. And where alse to go to other than the earth? Her father and Hai Dong didn't ask her any questions, thankfully, she wouldn't have known what to tell them anyway. Not at the time, not when she was still in shock and unable to even think straight, let alone talk. She was a mess when she arrived at her fathers home. He immediately called for Hai Dong of course and tried to give her comfort and calm her down as much as he could until his grand-nephew arrived.

And now she was here. Under the sea and attending classes at the academy for those of the Bui Dois who aren't made for heaven. This school wasn't made for her kind or those realted to her kind, but all other kinds instead, and yet she felt like she belonged. It didn't really make sense of course, but then again, things in her life had seldomly really made sense. Down here things seemed to be more natural and clear. Sharp and harsh yet easy going.
She didn't have to pretend like she cared. She didn't have to be nice all the time. She didn't have to force herself to do anything that actually made her uncomfortable and pretend like it didn't. Not that she was forced to do anything she didn't like, when she was at Phung-Lan, but she always felt the pressure of the others expecting her to do well, even if they didn't.
It always seemed so easy for the others, but it never came that easy to her. Being nice all the time, being contend all the time, smiling all the time and being attentive. She had the sight, sure, but she didn't really want to see. It was too much. Always had been and it only became worse with he powers constantly growing. But no one ever complained, so she didn't either.
She didn't want to be whiny and she didn't want to be ungrateful. So she did her best to improve instead and do what she could to completely adapt to the life in heaven and the academy in particular, but it just wouldn't work out. It wasn't enough to play pretence almost all the time. Sometime she was bound to break, evetually. She should have done what she did now, much sooner. That would've spared all of them a lot of pain and trouble.
But alas she was just a foolish little girl with too big a pride and too much a sense of responsibility for her own good. It was ridiculous.
But that was in the past now. Now she was finaly here and she would finaly be free and finaly she wasn't alone anylonger. Hai Dong was here, too.
They were supposed to meet in front of the dining-hall before the late-night-lessons started.
But where was he?
this is going to be the story of how the five of them met each other.
maybe also how they became the bestes of friends.
it's not finished yet, as you can see, so I'm not quite sure yet.
but I'll continue this.
we'll se how things will turn out... :)

I continued it a bit
hope you like what you'll find here
