Literature Text

About helping a friend

You are upset
of course you are
You are depressed
I know you are

You are embittered
I can see that
You want to give up
But I won't allow that

You won't say anything
believing it's useless
You ignore the good things
because you're tired of the mess

I won't force you to talk
if you don't want to
I will listen to you any time
when you are ready

I try to be patient
I really do
but right now it's really hard
to not worry about you

How am I supposed to help?
Do you even want it?
Are you even with me any more?
Do I matter?

What am I supposed to do?
Why won't you tell me?
My patience won't last forever.
Eventually I'll force you to talk.

You might hate me
Might think I'm annoying
Or that I'm being to nosy
Maybe you are right?

I can't help it though
I can't see a friend suffering
and do nothing about it
You are my friend

You think this sucks?
Deal with it!
I have to deal with it, too!
Now let me help you god dammit!

in case it's not clear : there are two parts in this poem, the italics are about the situation of a friend who obviously needs to be cheered up, and the rest is about the thoughts of the friend who obliously wants to cheer the other one up.
